At Vincent Vella D.D.S., we are well-prepared to handle dental emergencies in a timely manner. It’s never convenient when a tooth becomes an issue, especially if the pain keeps you from sleeping or enjoying the things in life as you would normally do.
If you believe you have a cracked or broken tooth/teeth that need(s) emergency care, you will notice a piece of the tooth/teeth missing or possibly a filling that has broken off. There may be significant pain in the immediate area(s) of trauma, specifically if it involves the nerve. If you have broken or cracked your tooth/teeth, you may have a condition known as cracked tooth syndrome, which will involve substantial pain when biting in any capacity.
A broken tooth is a mechanical fracture or injury to the tooth structure. It occurs most often when we bite into something hard, such as eating popcorn and mistakenly bite down on a kernel, olive pits, chicken bones, or even hard nuts.
A broken tooth/teeth can be the result of a loose or fractured filling, and it’s possible the catalyst is a result of tooth decay.

Dr. Vincent Vella will treat your traumatic tooth injury as it specifically relates to the method of occurrence. Sometimes it can be fixed as a simple filling. Other times more drastic measures are necessary that would require a crown to repair significant damage. There are situations where a fracture is so severe that the tooth/teeth are not salvageable and would require removal.
In addition to specific tooth pain and injury, Dr. Vella can also see you if you have acute swelling due to infection. Signs of this include intense, throbbing pain and significant swelling along the jaw line arising from the damaged tooth. If you are suffering from any of the above or similar issues.
